Our Concierge Care Service model is particularly important in markets like Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Hong Kong where retirement living is a new business entirely. The ability of developers to build the infrastructure is not in question; however, the way in which they are going to deliver care for those seniors who intend to age in place is. Our belief is that smart senior living developers and local Senior Helpers’ franchises can partner together to provide a full continuum of senior living services.
What we saw in Malaysia was an incredible trans-generational development designed to provide aging in place services. Excellent facility, superb amenities, I was longing for my swim suit, cap and googles to do some quick laps in the massive swimming pool. And, to top it all off, this particular developer has set aside land in their second development phase to build an on-site nursing home as well as a full suite of healthcare service providers including a dental clinic, rehab facility, pharmacy and community clinic, a truly integrated elder care system. They also want a home care provider, and ideally one that can both serve their senior living community, as well as work locally in the community.
While the retirement living business model that has worked in the US doesn’t precisely map onto what is going to work in emerging economies, the home care model Senior Helpers has developed does. We are really excited to meet more partners in southeast Asia who have the desire to build senior living facilities and want a home care provider to partner with in order to ensure their aging in place model is achievable.
