At Senior Helpers, we have invested extensively in training our staff to handle the unique challenges of providing Parkinson’s disease care. Our dedication to elevating the quality of life and comfort of our clients with Parkinson’s disease, as well as our ongoing training for caregivers, are some of the reasons why the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) elected to partner with Senior Helpers.
At the National Parkinson Foundation, the goal is to make life better for people with Parkinson’s through expert care and research. NPF’s ongoing research helps people with Parkinson’s today. NPF’s local Chapters provide the Parkinson’s community with a range of enriching services including support groups, wellness classes, and education programs.
NPF provides invaluable resources for caregivers and people living with Parkinson’s. In 2016, NPF hosted a Caregiver Summit, which addressed the dual role of caregivers: providing someone with Parkinson’s disease care, and caring for themselves. All sessions were recorded and can be viewed online. NPF also offers CareMAP, an online guide for managing advancing Parkinson’s. The website features 40 how-to videos and caregiver stories that provide practical and personal tips on coping with the complex problems that arise as a result of PD.
